What’s more, nearly all of Sambourne’s other photos are of women, so why would he suddenly start taking pictures of men’s bottoms?

Also, the person is using a bathing machine. Did men use those too? Quite possibly. You have raised an interesting point and if there are experts on Edwardian bathing costumes or just students of anatomy I would be interested to hear from them
